Why Barcelona would have to pay Liverpool an extra £89million to sign Firmino

Last January Barcelona signed Philippe Coutinho for £106million up front. But the Catalan club owes £36 million to Liverpool. As previously reported, Liverpool made a transfer agreement with Barcelona to prevent them from signing any of their players for the next two seasons. So Barcelona are still able to sign Liverpool players, but would have to pay an additional £89million on top of an agreed price. And if they want to sign Firmino, with his market value £75m, according to Transfermarkt, the price will go up to £164m. The clause will be lifted in 2020, at which point Barcelona will be within their right to sign Liverpool players for just the agreed transfer fee once more, writes Mirror.
