Five Manchester United players with something to prove when Premier League returns

Manchester United are not in the best form of their history. They used to win Premier League titles, however, since Sir Alex Ferguson's departure, they have finished just twice inside the top four. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side are currently battling for the top-four finish as they are fifth in the league. Before Premier League was suspended due to the coronavirus outbreak, United were on an 11-match unbeaten streak. The Premier League is provisionally set to restart on Wednesday, June 17, provided all safety tests are cleared. In Manchester United squad, they are five players with something to prove when the Premier League restarts. Harry Maguire Manchester United have spent a huge amount of money on Maguire and they expected the same feedback as Virgil van Dijk gave to Liverpool. However, they are still waiting. Solskjaer hailed his qualities as a defender and a leader and appointed him as a captain on several times. But United still have weakness in defending and Maguire should solve their problems. Eric Bailly Bailly has long suffered from injuries. Injuries again hit this season as Bailly was unavailable for most of Manchester United's season after getting injured in a pre-season game. As financial impact could prevent United from signing new players, Bailly could be someone Solskjaer could look to as dispensable. Luke Shaw playing for Manchester United Getty Images Luke Shaw Shaw was considered as one of the most promising left-back, however, he is now looked to be out of favour under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. The player now needs to show a level of consistency and keep his fitness level up to prove his importance. David de Gea De Gea has seen his stock fall this season after a pack of uncharacteristic and unusual performances. He was recently dropped as number one for the Spanish national team. The Spaniard kept just eight clean sheets in 29 Premier League fixtures. Dean Henderson will and should be a worry for De Gea and he needs to impress again. Paul Pogba Paul Pogba has long been criticised by all football specialists. He has long been linked with a move away from the club and it has been even reported, that United are ready to offload him. But till the end of the season, Pogba still needs to prove his worth and loyalty to the club with good performances. Source: Sportskeeda
