Aston Villa target Sassuolo forward for the January transfer window

Aston Villa are interested in Sassuolo forward Gregoire Defrel for the January transfer window, according to reports. Defrel joined Sassuolo from Roma in the summer on loan, with the option of staying at the club permanently for around £7.5million. Villa's boss Dean Smith is considering a move for the Frenchman, having Wesley Moraes out of the game for a long term due to the knee injury, and The Telegraph claims Defrel is on the club's striking short-list. Another target for Aston Villa is AC Milan’s Polish striker Krzysztof Piąte, according to various reports. The loan move for Chelsea forward Olivier Giroud is canceled, as Villa set to sign his teammate Danny Drinkwater on a temporary deal.
