Tottenham had many ups and downs during the 2019/20 Premier League season. But the campaign undoubtedly wasn’t the one that was expected after Champions League final.
Jose Mourinho helped the club to finish sixth in the league and earn Europa League qualification. However, there are a lot more expected from the Portuguese coach ahead of the next season. Therefore, Spurs should change the squad and welcome new players.
Chelsea star Willian, who is out of contract after the season, has been linked with a move to Tottenham. Meanwhile, according to the Daily Echo, Southampton midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has now rejected approaches from European sides because he’s set on joining Tottenham. Watford star Callum Wilson has also been linked with the club.
But ahead of any potential move, let’s take a look to the available shirt numbers at White Hart Lane.
Number 2- The number is available following Kieran Trippier’s summer move to Atletico Madrid.
Number 5- The shirt is up for grabs for the first time since 2012 with Jan Vertonghen’s departure.
Number 9- Famous number 9 is also vacant at the club and it could be handed to the striker.
Number 12- Victor Wanyama was the previous owner of the shirt before his January switch to Montreal Impact.
Number 14- This number is available since Georges-Kevin Nkoudou’s summer exit.
Number 26- This number has been vacant Ledley King’s exit in 2012. It is not officially retired.
The numbers which could become available
Number 3- Danny Rose will be out of contract in 2021 and this number is likely to become available.
Number 16- Another player with an uncertain future in N17 is Kyle Walker-Peters.
Other available numbers are: 25, 31, 32, 34, 35, 36, 37, 38 and 40.
