What role Giannis Antetokounmpo played in Bobby Portis re-signing with Bucks

Bobby Portis signed a new deal with the Milwaukee Bucks worth $8.9 million across two seasons, as he eventually decided to stay after receiving interest from a number of different teams. And Giannis Antetokounmpo was a huge influence on Portis’s decision to re-sign with the team, according to the Stadium’s Shams Charania.  

“He’s a hell of a leader, he’s always tried to instill that always take care of your family but he does want me to stick around and be around for the long run,” Portis said.   “To have a guy like Giannis to call me and want me to stay..emphasizing almost everyday after the season…the first thing he said after we won a championship was ‘look you guys gotta sign Bobby back’, for me to hear that, for my whole family to hear that, it was just great.”
