Spain have knocked Croatia out of the Euro 2020,
as they beat the 5-3 in the round of 16.
After 3-3 score at full time the teams were forced to play in the extra time, where Alvaro Morata and Mikel Oyarzabal nettted to give their side a ticket to the quarter-finals.
Cesar Azpilicueta, who scored for Spain to make it 2-1, has been congratulated for his goal, as well as winning the game, by Chelsea teammate and Croatian midfielder, Mateo Kovacic.
When asked about whether there he was messaged by any of his teammates after scoring, Azpilicueta said:
“No, no (laughs),” he told
Marca.
"I spoke with Mateo (Kovacic) before the game and then he congratulated me and that’s it.”
“It is football and many times you play against colleagues or against friends," the Blues skipper added.
Spain are now set to face Switzerland in the quarter-finials, on Friday, July 2 in Saint Petersburg.
