Switzerland are set to welcome Spain in the EURO 2020 quarter-finals in Saint Petersburg on Friday 2 July.
After shocking win over France, Switzerland have reached to the quarter-finals, while Spain beat Croatia in the round of 16. So ahead of the Friday’s game here is what the head coaches have said. Switzerland coach, Vladimir Petkovic: "The next step is always the most important. We want to make it to the next round, even if we're facing one of the favourites in Spain. We need to show our hunger on the pitch and I'm confident they will. We will miss a player like Xhaka a lot but what I want to see against Spain is that everyone gives a little more, not just to replace him but also to beat Spain. We want to progress, with all the respect for the opponent. Xhaka will take a different role but everyone in the squad will support and help the team." Luis Enrique, Spain boss: "I'm ready for games like [the 5-3 win against Croatia] if we have another – but I'm not sure if my family or the fans feel the same! We won’t play long-ball, defensive football even if playing the way we do brings wild matches. We only defend by trying to own the ball and play."
