Verstappen reveals secrets about Baku City circuit and hopes for more madness

Red Bull driver Max Verstappen believes his side could surprise at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. Verstappen and then-Red Bull teammate Daniel Ricciardo were involved in a dramatic collision at the Azerbaijan GP last season, ending both their races. The two drivers were battling for position and racing hard all race, and Ricciardo, who had just been overtaken via the overcut in the pits by Verstappen, slammed into the back of the Dutchman's RB14 when attempting a move for fourth into Turn One. The incident came after the pair touched on several occasions during the race. But the earlier contact was nothing compared to the huge shunt on Lap 41, with both cars spinning into the run-off area. "It’s always an exciting weekend and a lot of things can happen," he said in the Red Bull race preview. "It’s a big show and hopefully this year’s race will make for a good story." The Dutch driver reveals the race in Baku is very interesting and explains why. “Baku is quite an interesting race because, on a street circuit, you usually want to run a lot of downforces," said Verstappen. "Because of the long straights between the corners in Baku, you have to find a bit of a compromise so that means you have a quite low grip on the track and you slide around a bit. "It’s a decent track for overtaking because of the long straight and especially with the DRS zone. It’s a lot of fun to drive and especially the castle area. It’s very narrow but also it’s really cool for pictures to look back at!"
