UK Prime Minister SPEAKS OUT on Premier League BAN amid coronavirus outbreak
UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson says sporting events in the country could be banned amid the coronavirus outbreak in the country. The government had a discussion earlier today on cancelling sporting events, including the Premier League matches. At this point, nothing has changed except the fact that matches will be played behind-closed-doors. However, the public pressure could make the authorities change the decision and postpone the matches rather than playing them in empty stadiums. "We are considering the question of banning major public events such as sporting fixtures," Johnson said at the press-conference (via Mirror)."And the scientific advice, as we've said over the last couple of weeks, is that banning such events will have little effect on the spread but there's also the issue of the burden that such events can place on public services."
