Tottenham star set to miss the start of pre-season

Toby Alderweireld might be forced to miss the start of pre-season as the defender could be required to observe a mandatory 14-day self-isolation period on his return to the UK after holidaying in Belgium. Based on how different countries are fighting against the pandemic, the UK government have been constantly modifying the travel corridor list – the list of countries and territories from where you can travel to England and may not have to self-isolate. Belgium was removed from the travel corridor this week due to a spike of cases in the country and it could leave Alderweireld with a problem on his return to the UK. According to football.london,  the defender could miss the start of pre-season if he does not make it back into the country by 4 am on Saturday (due to the 14-day self-isolation). The report also claims that footballers could be exempt from having to observe the quarantine as they fall into the elite sportsman category. But it is said that some clubs believe that players will not be exempt from the mandatory quarantine on their return to the country. Source- Spurs-Web
