TOP 5 Chelsea players who could leave the club in January

Chelsea have their FIFA transfer ban reduced following an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, thus the Blues can sign a player in January transfer window. FIFA handed down a two-window transfer ban to Chelsea in February of this year after football’s world governing body found the club guilty of breaching two of its regulations on player transfers, specifically regarding bringing in U18s and ‘third-party influence’. With their reduced transfer ban, there also could be players, who will be free to leave the club during the January transfer window, as Frank Lampard can sign replacements for those players. The Blues have been cleared to give Lampard access to a £150million transfer budget to strengthen his squad in January. Chelsea would like to sign Central defender, left-back, winger and striker. Considering the fact, that Chelsea have defensive problems, a target for the back could be optional for the Blues. Chelsea are fourth in the Premier League with 29 points (stats by 09.12.2019). Kepa Arrizabalaga, the most expensive goalkeeper in the world, is yet to keep a domestic clean sheet away from home in 2019. Andreas Christensen and Kurt Zouma, Chelsea’s centre back pairing at Everton, have conceded 15 goals in the seven games they have started together this season. This season so far, Chelsea have scored 31 goals and conceded 24. But besides the fact, that Chelsea need to sign new players to solve their problems, there are also players who need to leave the club due to lack of their playing time or the fact, that their contracts due to expire in 2020. Willy Caballero Caballero, 38, has made just two appearances for Chelsea this season so far, during their EFL Cup campaign and he conceded three goals in those matches. In November, Caballero admitted he wants to leave Chelsea at the end of the season to return to Spain. The 38-year-old has played for Elche and Malaga in Spain in the past and the goalkeeper wants to head back when his contract expires at Chelsea. However, the Blues could have other plans for him. They would rather sell him in January with any prize than losing him free in the summer. Therefore, the Argentinian is on the list of players who could leave Chelsea in January. Willian Chelsea winger Willian, 31, is on his final year at Stamford Bridge and will be free to discuss his future with foreign clubs during the January transfer window. Willian has revealed he will only depart the club if the Blues want him to go. Chelsea and Frank Lampard have the chance to reward loyalty for an excellent player at the club, or could the Blues’ manager be looking to sell him to continue to freshen the squad. Willian is hoping for a fresh two-year deal but Chelsea have not been keen to offer that over-30 in recent years. Barcelona have been linked with Willian and the Blues could opt to sell him during January, rather than losing him free. Olivier Giroud Chelsea are seemingly ready to allow Olivier Giroud to leave in the January transfer window. Giroud, 33, has made just seven appearances for the Blues and has scored only once this season so far. Giroud’s contract at Stamford Bridge expires in the summer and Borussia Dortmund, Inter Milan and Lyon have been linked with the France international. Former Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is keen on to sign the player, however,  La Gazzetta dello Sport reported, that there are two possible problems with the move. Giroud is on €8million (£6.9m) a season at Chelsea and Inter are not willing to match that as part of any deal. Pedro Pedro, 32,  has made just four starts in the Premier League this season so far and nine appearances in all competitions. The Spaniard’s contract runs down next summer and Chelsea looking no closer to agreeing on an extension. Aston Villa hopes to persuade him to join their ranks, with regular minutes on offer, according to the Telegraph. Pedro has admitted he's had a 'difficult time' during Frank Lampard's reign as Blues boss. When asked by Radio Club Tenerife if he has other options on the table, the World Cup winner replied (as quoted by Sport Witness): "Yes, there are offers. There are always clubs that are interested, and that is a joy. "I am calm because in the club they have always treated me in the best way; it's the same with the fans and teammates. You have to keep working to take advantage when you have opportunities." Marcos Alonso Marcos Alonso, 28, is the only one on the list who still has more years on his deal, as the contract expires in 2023. However, his departure from Stamford Bridge is almost certain. The  Spaniard has struggled for consistent playing time under new coach Frank Lampard so far this season, due to the English coach’s preference of playing younger players. Furthermore, the former Fiorentina full-back is nostalgic for Italy and wishes to reunite with his former coach, Antonio Conte, at Inter. Conte brought Alonso to Chelsea and wants to sign the defender on loan with no obligation to buy. Juventus would be another destination for Alonso. The Old Lady, managed by Maurizio Sarri and Alonso would like to reunite with Sarri too. During the Italian’s spell at Chelsea, Alonso largely remained a regular.
