TOP 10 Midfielders In The World 2021

The football world is constantly changing and shifting. New players are consistently getting involved and old players are retiring all the time. Over the years, we have witnessed many magnificent players playing in all positions. Each position is, of course, important but the powerhouse of any good team is in the midfield, as midfielders play an essential part in any team’s setup. A good midfielder handles winning the ball back, starting the play on the pitch, as well as making up goalscoring opportunities. In each league and in each team, there is, of course, competition among players about who is the best. Yet there are some standout players coming to our minds while thinking of midfield.

Who are the best midfielders of 2021?

So, now let us take a look at our TOP 10 list of midfielders in 2021, which includes stars from different leagues and countries.

10. Luka Modric

Club: Real Madrid Country: Croatia Age: 36   Luka Mdric Image Source: Getty Images Luka Modric is the type of player who would grant space to his teammate to score as his main target is helping the team. It is the main reason why Modric doesn't have shining numbers when it comes to G/A contributions but people still identify his hard work on the field. The Croatian has always been a key part of the Real Madrid squad, who is a driving force behind the team's successes. It’s no surprise he is one of the best central midfielders in the game.

9. Koke

Club: Atletico Madrid Country: Spain Age: 29   Koke Image Source: Getty Images

Koke is a player that many managers should be putting at the top of their wishlist.

Reasonably skillful and talented in his job, the Spaniard could be the perfect player to thread your team together.

He's definitely deserving to be in this list of TOP 10!

8. Nicolo Barella

Club: Inter Milan Country: Italy Age: 24 Image Source: Getty Images

A young starlet to make the list, Nicolo Barella is an absolutely talented player to watch non-stop.

He has brilliant ratings for defending and work rate, but don't let that trick you into thinking he's just about defending, he is a classy operator in the final third too.

Before the Inter v Genoa season opener, Serie A presented Barella with the award for the league's best midfielder in the 2020/21 season. Totally deserved!

7. Ilkay Gundogan

Club: Manchester City Country: Germany Age: 31   Image Source: Getty Images Ilkay Gundogan has been transformed into one of the Premier League's best goalscoring midfielders by Pep Guardiola. The Germany international scored 17 times in all competitions for Manchester City, leading their goalscorers in the PL with 13 goals as they won the title last season. Gundogan is master at occupying spaces where he could move into advanced positions and score when Cityzens play without a recognized striker.

6. N'Golo Kante

Club: Chelsea Country: France Age: 30   Image Source: Getty Images When talking about the best central defending midfielders, it’s difficult to avoid mentioning N’Golo Kante. The Frenchman was the Player of the Match during the last Champions League final, and his last season was nothing but phenomenal. The 30-year-old is undoubtedly the best ball-winner in football world, who has put on consecutive man-of-the-match performances in the semi-finals and final against Real Madrid and Manchester City, respectively. A big-game player, Kante has always performed brilliantly on the biggest stages.

5. Bruno Fernandes

The Portuguese playmaker joined Manchester United in January 2020 and has contributed more goals than any other PL player in this period. No one can deny his essential role as United reached the final of the UEFA Europa League before losing to Villarreal.

4. Jorginho

The Chelsea star was impressive for club and country in 2021, winning the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Euro 2020 and UEFA Super Cup. The Italian finished in third place in the 2021 Ballon d'Or rankings behind Lionel Messi and Robert Lewandowski. Despite his successes in 2021, a lot of fans feel he isn't among the best midfielders in the world this year. However, we simply couldn't let him out of this list!

The Manchester City wizard is an ideal candidate to be named the best midfielder, as he has done many wonders in 2021. The unique part about De Bruyne is that in order to show the supremacy of other midfielders they usually compare them to the Belgium international and then call their player the best. So if you are being used to compare someone then it is a sign that you are already the best.
