Steve Bruce refuses to get too down about Newcastle United's season

Steve Bruce has insisted that Newcastle will still have the chance to finish in top 10 in the Premier League. The Magpies are sitting on the 14th place of the league table with 31 points. They will shorten the gap should they succeed in the upcoming matches. With the 11 games still to play, Bruce believes they are capable of finishing the season with more successful result. He old the Chronicle: "We've got 11 or 12 games left (with the FA Cup clash at West Brom also to come next week) and we have given ourselves an opportunity. It's still realistic (to finish top 10). We're getting a few back from injury now and we have give ourselves a great opportunity. Let's try to grasp it over the next four, five six weeks. Let's look upwards. Let's see if we can do it. We're up against teams up and around us. Seventh place could be enough... But always at the moment everybody looks the other way - the bottom 10. We're Newcastle and we won't get ahead of ourselves. If we can put together a few results - who knows? That has got to be our aim. We need to stay in the game and not make the mistakes we've made. We need to play with the intensity we know we can." Newcastle will face their next Premier League rivals, Burnley, on Saturday.
