Leicester City contract talks for Christian Fuchs as Brendan Rodgers seeks to delay New York move

Leicester City will discuss a new deal with Christian Fuchs, following his impressive performance this season. Fuchs' contract with the Foxes expires this summer. However, the 33-year-old left-back's latest form rose the talks over his possible new contract. The Austrian professional managed to impress the club boss Brendan Rodger during the Premier League 1 - 0 loss to Manchester City. Speaking about the defender, Rodgers said: "You see his fitness level for his age, how he can come in and show up at that level. He’s a brilliant professional and I’ve loved having him about and working with him. It’s a conversation we will have [on a new contract]. He knows he won’t play as much but he knows my trust in him. He knows the game, he’s very good tactically in the game and he can play in a couple of positions so he offers us great cover. I think he’s really enjoyed his football this year. He’s trained so well. He’s always been clear on his role. Christian is the type that that clarity really helps him, he knows where he’s at, and when I need him he’s always ready." Fuchs' new contract will be dependent on his family situation. The 33-year-old intended to spend three seasons with Leicester before moving to New York, where his wife and children live. If Fuchs signs a new contract with a one-year extension, he will spend his sixth season at the King Power Stadium.
