Sterling, Jesus, Aguero: Manchester City injury list and expected return dates

Manchester City have received an injury boost as the club players are nearing to first-team return after a long-term absence. The Sky Blues have already welcomed Aymeric Laporte and Bernardo Silva back from their injuries, while Ilkay Gundogan has returned to training after his period of self-isolation for a positive Covid-19 test. Meanwhile, Joao Cancelo has played for Portugal this week after missing City's first five games, while John Stones is back in training. Raheem Sterling is close to his come back after suffering a minor hamstring issue that forced him to pull out of England duty. The expected return date for the player is October 17. What concerns Gabriel Jesus, he is possible to return to the game on October 24, after being sidelined due to the knock he picked up against Wolves. The forward missed the club's senior games against Bournemouth, Leicester City, Burnley and Leeds United. When speaking about the striker's absence, Pep Guardiola said: "We don't have Sergio, we don't have Gabriel. We have Liam [Delap]. We have many options. Cole Palmer can play as a striker too. We will see. Sergio still hasn't trained and Gabriel was injured against Wolves so he will be out for a month." Sergio Aguero would have to wait a little bit longer as he is in the recovery process after undergoing knee surgery in June that forced him to be out of action for the last games of the 2019/2020 campaign. Now he has rejoined the main squad after a couple of weeks of individual training. “We knew that the injury was difficult,” said Guardiola at the beginning of the season. “He is doing the job, and in maybe one month or two months he will be ready. “Sergio was out for a long time and Sergio is not a guy who regains physical condition quick, so I think in one month or two months he will be ready.”
