The stats that shame Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Manchester United

Manchester United suffered humiliation at Everton as the Toffees thumped them 4-0 at Goodison Park on Sunday with Richarlison, Gylfi Sigurdson, Lucas Digne and Theo Walcott all on target for the hosts. United have lost six of their past eight games in all competitions and are sixth in the Premier League. Moreover, this was also Everton's biggest win against United since October 1984, when the Toffees prevailed with a 5-0 success. Now the Red Devils need to rely on other sides around them slipping up at some point from now until May. Here’s a look at some of the statistics that shame United.
  • Red Devils have conceded 48 Premier League goals in 2018-19, their highest ever tally in a single season in the competition and their most in a top-flight league campaign since 1978-79 (63).
  • Manchester United have lost five back-to-back away games in all competitions for the first time since March 1981 under Dave Sexton.
  • David de Gea has now conceded eight goals from outside the box in the Premier League this season; the only Premier League season that he's conceded more from long range was 2013-14 (9).
  • United's loss to Everton was their heaviest since they were beaten 4-0 by Chelsea in October 2016.
  • Red Devils have gone eleven matches without a clean sheet in all competitions for the first time since December 1998.

  • October 23, 2016 - Chelsea 4-0 Manchester United
  • April 21, 2019 - Everton 4-0 Manchester United
Next time Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side will be in action on Wednesday, against Manchester City, on April 24.
