Sebastian Vettel sends warning to Mercedes ahead of Azerbaijan Grand Prix

Sebastian Vettel sends warning to rivals Mercedes, as he is confident a Ferrari upgrade can end the team’s winless streak. Ferrari emerged from pre-season testing with an apparent edge over Mercedes. The German won four world titles but has had a difficult start to the 2019 season, finishing fourth and fifth in Australia and Bahrain respectively. During the Chinese Grand Prix Vettel was allowed to overtake his younger team-mate in order to catch the Mercedes pair of Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas. But it quickly became apparent that Leclerc was quicker than Vettel. Ferrari refused to let their new driver back past the four-time world champion though. The German ended up finishing third with Leclerc down in fifth. Red Bull’s Max Verstappen managed to split the Ferrari pair. Formula 1 is screeching towards Azerbaijan Grand Prix, the fourth race in the 2019 season. “Hopefully, at one point we can look back and say this was the decider and the decisive moment, but right now I don’t know and I don’t really care,” said Vettel. “We have a strong package and I am confident that if we can get it in the right place we should be able to show that and give the others a very, very hard time.  “If you improve the car, in general, it helps you here, and obviously everywhere else. That is the idea. The idea is to make the car faster, no matter where we go. Hopefully, we can find the same results on track that we found in the wind tunnel... hopefully the numbers stack up and we see how much of a jump we can do.” The race will take place on Sunday, April 28 in Baku City Circuit.
