Sebastian Vettel future latest as Toto Wolff gives verdict on Ferrari to Racing Point move

Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff believes Sebastian Vettel would take more than just his on-track quality with him if he joins Racing Point. Vettel is set to leave Ferrari later this year after the Italians decided not to extend his deal. The 33-year-old has already seen Mercedes, Red Bull, Renault and McLaren close the door on him with their driver line-ups for 2021 taking shape. Racing Point, meanwhile, have emerged as a potential landing spot for Vettel and he's admitted he's open to a move there. Wolff, who has invested in the Aston Martin car company has now talked up the possible switch. "Sebastian is a four-time world champion with a lot of speed and technical experience," said Wolff, as reported by Motorsport-Total.com. "And he would be an important marketing tool for Aston Martin." During the F1's visit to Austria earlier this month, Wolff mooted the possibility of being involved in discussions over Vettel's future. "I am not involved in any conversations between Lawrence Stroll, Otmar and Sebastian," said Wolff. "My shares in the car company have nothing to do with the Formula 1 team. Of course I know Sebastian well, and I've met him a few times on social occasions. Nothing more. Ultimately, it is Lawrence's decision which pair of drivers is best for his racing team."
