Steven Gerrard’s side, who have won the League Cup 27-time ,are currently on a 12-game unbeaten run in all competitions (W8, D4). Meanwhile, Celtic, who have won the League Cup for 18 times, are currently leading the Scottish Premiership table with 40 points, two points ahead of Rangers. Both sides have only lost one game during this season’s Premiership games.
"It's not about me and the trophies I've won during my career," said Steven Gerrard (via BBC) "This is about Rangers, the team and the players, and us having or giving ourselves the opportunity to win our first trophy together."

The Premiership league leaders have scored 46 goals so far during this season with having conceded only 9, while Rangers have scored 45 and conceded 10. Last season’s League Cup winners, Celtic, who beat Aberdeen with a 1-0 score, enter the final stage of this season’s league cup as favorites.
"There's a relentlessness about them, they refuse to lose," said Neil Lennon of his team. (via BBC) "We're in brilliant form, 11 wins in a row, but we're not taking anything for granted because we know Rangers are playing very well. It has all the ingredients of a cracking game. "They have improved, but what gets overlooked is we are improving as well. The results and performances would back that up. "It will take a big performance some day - hopefully not Sunday - to end this run of trophies. We're excited about it. The boys are defending the trophy and there's a quiet motivation about them to keep it going."
