Roman Abramovich's £95m splurge in same week as Chelsea's Timo Werner deal

Chelsea agreed a deal to sign Timo Werner from RB Leipzig for £53million, four days later the club owner Roman Abramovich has reportedly dropped £95million on a piece of art for his personal collection. According to reports originating in Russia, Abramovich bought Edward Munch’s “scream” for $120million in a virtual auction from Sotheby’s. The auctioneer would not confirm the identity of the buyer. Abramovich's appreciation of art has long been known. He has previously purchased famous works from Lucian Freud and Francis Bacon and opened a gallery in Moscow to showcase the city's street art in 2008. Source: Football.london
