Real Madrid enter race to sign Newcastle star, joining Chelsea and Liverpool

Real Madrid have reportedly set its sights on Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes for a potential summer transfer, intensifying the competition among top clubs like Liverpool and Chelsea for his signature.

Vital to Newcastle's success last season, the 26-year-old played an important role in securing a top-four finish in the Premier League, securing Champions League qualification for the current season.

In the ongoing Premier League campaign, the Brazilian has featured in 22 matches, contributing one goal and four assists to the club's efforts. Fichajes reports that Los Blancos see Guimaraes as a potential successor to veteran midfielder Luka Modric, whose contract expires at the season's end.

Carlo Ancelotti views the Magpies' star as an ideal fit for the club and is prepared to meet his £100 million release clause. While Newcastle value the Brazil international's contributions, manager Eddie Howe has acknowledged the club's financial challenges, suggesting that key players like Guimaraes could be subject to transfer moves despite their importance to the team's success.

“I can’t offer any assurance on [not selling Guimaraes and others],” Howe said.

“Regardless of our Financial Fair Play situation or financial situation that would be the case because you can never tell what is going to happen in football.”
