Rafa Benitez reacts to Tom Davies substitution in Manchester United draw and gives his verdict on Everton game

Everton head coach Rafa Benitez has hailed Everton's "brave" performance in their 1-1 draw against Manchester United at Old Trafford on Saturday. Anthony Martial opened the scoring by the end of the first-half, assisted by Bruno Fernandes. However, in the 65th minute Andros Townsend equalised the score after the Toffees’ brilliant counter attack. In the last minutes of the game Yerry Mina netted the second one for his side, however, it was ruled out through offside. After the match, Benitez believes that his side could even have come away with all three points thanks to their display.
The Toffees' manager remarked: "I think it [the performance] was brave.   "We have some players who aren't playing with us, the other players are playing too many minutes and you could see some of them were a little tired at the end.   "I think, overall, it was a great performance. We did really well in defence, in the counter-attack which was what we wanted.   "It's a pity because we can be happy with one point, but it could be even better."
The Merseyside club could have claimed all three points late in the game, but Yerry Mina's goal was chalked off for offside as he was beyond the last man when played in by Tom Davies. It was thought the midfielder should have taken a shot at goal himself rather than pass the ball, but Benitez has explained why he shouldn't be blamed for his decision:
"In terms of the chance for Davies, I think he saw the position of Yerry and thought it was much better than his position. That's it.   "You can't blame a player for making this kind of decision. If he doesn't have anyone and he's looking for someone then ok you can say he doesn't want to score, or he was a little scared.   "But that's not the case, you can't blame him. He was in the right place at the right time, he felt that Yerry was in a better position.   "That's it. He was unlucky it was just some centimetres offside."
