Manchester City have reportedly made ‘direct contact’ with the representatives of Villarreal centre-back Pau Torres ahead of yet another potential defensive addition.
The Spain international had been attracting interest from Premier League clubs this summer, with Chelsea, Tottenham and Manchester United keen.
However, according to Marca, City director of football Txiki Begiristain is ahead of the queue to land tTorres.
Cityzens have positioned themselves well thanks to Begiristain’s contacts in Spanish football, as he shares an excellent relationship with Torres’ closest friends.
The 24-year-old’s signing would be yet another addition to City’s centre-back team of Ruben Dias, Aymeric Laporte, Nathan Ake and John Stones.
