Press Conference: Frank Lampard on Tammy, Kepa, Loftus-Cheek and CORONAVIRUS

Chelsea were beaten by Bayern Munich in the Champions League last-16 stage and following defeat they are now back to the Premier League action. The Blues set to face Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Ahead of the game, Chelsea boss Frank Lampard faced the press. The manager provided an update on injured players: “Pulisic is injured. Kante injured, Abraham injured. We are trying to find a solution with Tammy. It’s the same.” Lampard said that Ruben Loftus-Cheek will be back to the squad. “Ruben is in the squad again tomorrow. It would mean a lot for him. It is a lonely place to be injured. With the ability that he has got he is one of the most exciting English midfield players,” said Lampard. The boss was asked, what would be the responding to Bayern Munich. “The response will be about what we see tomorrow. They have been fine in training. The match was tough, it opens your eyes somewhat. The last Premier League performance was very good,” said Lampard. “In the bigger picture it was a lesson for the players. They were better than us. It was a reality check for all of us. I thought we could perform better. But we are in fourth and we have to fight until the end.” When asked who is in the fight for tip four, Lampard said: “When you look around and the form of United, a strong unit and spent well last summer, similar with Tottenham and can’t write off Arsenal. Wolves and Sheffield United you have to respect them, they are good teams. We have a fight on. Anyone who is in range has a chance.” In the game against Bayern Munich, goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga was left out from the starting line-up. Lampard was asked about his relationship with Kepa. “My relationship is fine. I can’t keep every player happy. But professionalism is there from him. Every player is in control of their own decision. Caballero is training well and performing well. I will decide as we go,” said Lampard. ”I have read a lot of false articles of guessing players. All I am focusing on is game by game. Then there are decisions for the club.” On not spending money, Lampard added: “We couldn’t control the ban. We lost the best player in the Premier League in Hazard. We are trying to improve on the training pitch. We have shown we can get into fourth and now we have to kick on.” Lampard also said that Callum Hudson-Odoi is not fit. On Pulisic injury, the manager added: “It has been long. It was to be a lot less. But I had a similar injury when I was a player, so I can sympathise. I know it can be a delicate injury. The way he was playing. The hot patch, the ability to go past players.” Lampard also spoke about Abraham: ‘” At the moment he is not doing anything active for a couple of days. But we don’t know the length.” Coronavirus is spreading quickly across Europe and it has increased fears that the UK government could ‘opt to cancel sporting events for two months’. “The club is following government protocol. There is no other update (from a club spokesman),” said Lampard on the matter. Source: Football.london Join us on Telegram!
