Press Conferece: Thomas Tuchel on Silva, Rudiger, Christensen; Mount and Jorginho team news; Atletico Madrid and more

Chelsea are set to face Atletico Madrid in the second leg of the Champions League round 16 on Wednesday. The Blues picked up an essential win in the second leg thanks to Olivier Giroud's 68th minute goal. Ahead of Wednesday clash, head coach Thomas Tuchel has talked to the press and provided injury updates, as well as contract updates on Thiago Silva, Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen and more. On defender's contracts - Silva, Rudiger, Christensen, Blues' boss said: "First of all it is maybe the worst moment to talk about it one day before a big and important match. Everybody knows the situation of the three players who have performed on a super high level. "Thiago has been missing many weeks now but is too long but Andreas and Toni have done a great job so far." Tuchel also provided team news on Mason Mount, Jorginho and Tammy Abraham: "A little bit, they are two key players for us (Mount and Jorginho). They have been important so far but we have a group that competes, now is time to adapt and find solutions as we will play without those two guys. "We will also be without Thiago Silva and Tammy Abraham." When asked whether he was surprised by view that Atletico were defensive in leg one, the German said: "I believe that every club has it's DNA and characteristics. With Simeone they are one of the toughest teams to beat, this is their characteristic, discipline and hard working, organised defence. They have incredible quality to attack and to play a possession game, they are a complete squad." Tuchel was also asked whether Timo Werner and Kepa Arrizabalaga are happy at Chelsea, with the latter being dropped from Spain squad. "Pretty sure for Kepa it is a disappointment," said Chelsea boss. " I heard some hours ago, that is clear but as I said before, he is super strong here, he is our player and it doesn't affect how we work with him and keep on going Would it be easy if he plays on a regular basis, yes. Edouard Mendy is the number one and he has to be competitive for that. He 100 per cent reliable, top performance in training, outstanding. That doesn't help our strikers because it is so hard to score in training. "For Timo, he has no reason now not to be frustrated because he did an amazing match against Liverpool then he had a good match against Everton with a lot of chances to score. He did not score, OK, this sticks in a situation like this but what does it help? The clear advice from us is don't focus on the result, get your decision making right and technique right and the ball will do the rest."
