Pep Guardiola tells Manchester City chiefs to find Aguero replacement as one player failed to impress

Pep Guardiola is reportedly not convinced Gabriel Jesus can replace Sergio Aguero and plans to sign a new striker. Manchester City head coach does not believe the Brazilian frontman can be a long-term replacement for his Argentine team-mate, whose contract expires next year. Aguero has yet to commit his future to the club beyond the upcoming season and has a long-standing ambition to return to Argentina to play for boyhood club Independiente. While Guardiola can count on the 33-year-old this season, he is aware how vital Aguero is to his team. According to ESPN, the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager wants to recruit a proven striker to fill the void left by City’s record goalscorer. He wants City chiefs to identify a player of the quality of Aguero, Harry Kane and Robert Lewandowski – who will guarantee goals for his team. But despite Jesus scoring 67 goals in 151 senior appearances since joining from Palmeiras in January 2017, Guardiola thinks another striker is needed to come into the club, which could see them open the chequebook once more.
