Osgood, Bentley, Drogba: TOP 10 best strikers in Chelsea history


UEFA Champions League, Premier League, FA Cup, Europa League and other trophies are decorating Chelsea's museum. Stamford Bridge side is one of the best clubs in England and Europe. They have won all those trophies thanks to their prolific strikers as they have scored many goals for their side. And here are the top 10 best strikers in Chelsea history.

Eiður Guðjohnsen

  Icelandic football legend Eiður Guðjohnsen saw his greatest success in England. He joined Chelsea in 2000 for a deal that worth £4.5 million. In his debut season, the player scored 13 goals, while in the second season he added 52 goals to his name. He helped the Blues to win two successive Premier League titles. Guðjohnsen left Chelsea in 2006 and joined Barcelona. He managed to score 78 goals and create 32 assists for Chelsea in 262 games. Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink

  Guðjohnsen formed a superb connection with other Chelsea striker, who is among the top 10 best strikers in Chelsea's history. Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink joined Chelsea, for a club-record fee of £15 million. Hasselbaink scored 23 goals in 35 league appearances in the 2000–01 season. He helped the Blues to win the Premier League title in the 2003/04 season. Hasselbaink scored 88 goals and created 24 assists in 177 Chelsea appearances. He left the club in 2004 for Middlesbrough FC. Gianfranco Zola

  Gianfranco Zola joined Chelsea in 1996 for a £4.5 million fee. He was voted Chelsea's greatest player ever in 2003. He scored 59 goals in 229 appearances for the Blues. Zola won two FA Cups, two English Super Cups, 1998's English League Cup. George Mills

  Let's discover Chelsea's history books as we are going to talk about George Robert Mills. He joined Chelsea in 1929 and spent his entire career at the club. He was a prolific goal scorer in his time there, notching 125 goals in 239 games. In his debut season, Mills scored 14 goals in 20 games for Chelsea, helping them achieve promotion to the First Division. His best season was in 1936-37 when he scored 22 goals in 32 appearances. Jimmy Greaves

  James Peter Greaves joined Chelsea in 1955 and he is now the seventh-highest top-scorer in Chelsea history. He is also England's fourth highest international goalscorer. Greaves scored 124 goals in his 157 Chelsea appearances and it's more than enough to add him to the list of Chelsea's top 10 best strikers ever. Peter Osgood

  Peter Osgood joined Chelsea in 1946 and played for the Blues for 10 years. He was nicknamed the “King of Stamford Bridge” at the club. In 1971, he was part of the Chelsea team which lifted the European Cup Winners' Cup, defeating Real Madrid 2–1 in a replay in Athens after the original tie had finished 1–1, with Osgood scoring Chelsea's goal in that game. He scored 105 goals for the club. Sadly, he passed away in 2010 and after his death, Osgood's ashes were interred under the penalty area at the Shed End of Stamford Bridge. Roy Bentley

  Roy Bentley spent 12 seasons for Chelse and made 367 appearances for the club. He led the club to their first-ever league title in 1954-55. He scored 152 goals for the Blues and was the record goalscorer for the club at the time of his retirement. He is currently the fifth-highest top-scorer of the club. Didier Drogba

  One of the players who is included in the list of the best strikers in Chelsea's history is Didier Drogba. He is one of the greatest players in Blues' history. He scored 157 goals in his 341 appearances for Chelsea. He won the Premier League title in his debut season. It was the Blues' first title in 50 years. Moreover, he scored the equalizer and the winning goal that secured the Champions League trophy for Chelsea. Kerry Dixon

  Another historical figure is Kerry Dixon who played for Chelsea for 9 years and won the second division twice. He has made 420 appearances for the blues and it's 9th highest in the club's history. Bobby Tambling

  Bobby Tambling is one of Chelsea's best players in their history. The player joined the club when he was just a 15-year-old boy and spent 12 seasons at the club. He scored 202 goals in his 370 games and remained as Chelsea's all-time top-scorer for more than 40 years. Only Frank Lampard scored more goals for the club (211). But Tambling still holds the record for the highest number of goals scored for Chelsea in a league game. He scored 5 goals in a 6–2 away win at Aston Villa on 17 September 1966.
