Oscar De La Hoya: I believe we can do ‘Canelo’ - Golovkin 3 without fans

Oscar De La Hoya (Golden Boy Promotions) believes Saul Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin could meet behind-closed-doors, considering the current circumstances. ‘Canelo’ was supposed to fight against Billie Joe Saunders on May 2 in Las Vegas and Golovkin in September, but both dates are now uncertain due to the coronavirus outbreak.   “Safety is first. We still have to figure out how to make this work because Canelo is the biggest attraction in boxing.” De La Hoya told Yahoo Sports News about the possible third fight between the Triple ‘G’ and Canelo. “Canelo-GGG has to happen. DAZN wants it, we want it [Golden Boy], and Canelo wants it, and GGG wants it. It has to happen. That has to be the first or next biggest major mega-fight for boxing. That’s how boxing makes a statement, do you know what I’m saying? “I believe we can do it without fans, but Canelo is a superstar. He’s going to want to have a packed arena. “We have to put our heads together and minds together to think this out because there’s a lot of money involved with that gate. Imagine a fight of that magnitude with no fans. We’ve never lived this in our lives, so we have to figure this out,” De La Hoya added. After the controversial draw back in 2017, Alvarez has beaten Golovkin in 2018 via majority decision.
