Mesut Ozil 'should be thankful' to Alexis Sanchez for his wage and contract

Former Liverpool and Manchester United man Michael Owen says Mesut Ozil should be thankful to Alexis Sanchez, as the transfer of Chilean was a key factor for his contract renewal. Alexis left Arsenal in January of 2018, when he was included in swap deal with Henrikh Mkhitaryan. Ozil, after Sanchez joined MU, signed new contract to become team’s highest earning player. Owen told BT Sports (via Football London): “Ozil must be thinking every bed at night ‘thank God for Sanchez’ because they couldn’t at that point lose two players of that quality,”  “Sanchez eventually left and Arsenal moved heaven and earth to keep Ozil, offering him double what he probably his worth in today’s market, so he’s got a right deal out of it. “Whether that’s enough in terms of if he is motivated by that, some people want to play every week and it’s all about the number of goals they score, we are all motivated by different things. “I think it’s been a real tricky situation with three players, I’ve mentioned Sanchez going, then Ozil and now Ramsey. The whole structure of wages has been broken.” added Owen. Ozil has lost his place in starting lineup under Unai Emery. Spanish coach doesn't reportedly see German in his formations and tactics and wants the club to sell him.
