Liverpool told to sign €65 m defender
Former Dutch winger René van der Gijp wants Matthijs De Ligt to join Liverpool.
De Ligt, 19, is one of the most talented defenders in the world. His tandem with Virgil Van Dijk helped Netherlands national team to win their group during UEFA Nations League.
Ajax captain is linked with Barcelona, Juventus and Manchester City, but Gijp thinks it would be better for De Ligt to play alongside with Van Dijk.
He told Dutch outlet Voetbal Primeur (via LiverpoolECHO): “It would be great for Dutch football if those two defenders can play alongside each other for five to six years. “Then you are getting the best centre-back pairing in Europe.”
