Matthias Ginter responds to Chelsea transfer speculation

Matthias Ginter has rubbished rumours that he could be set for a move to Chelsea. The centre-back stated that he’s ‘definitely staying’ at Borussia Monchengladbach this summer. The 26-year-old, who won a World Cup winners’ medal with Germany back in 2014, impressed at the heart of Gladbach’s defence this season. Inter Milan, Atletico Madrid, Chelsea and Arsenal have all been linked with Ginter ahead of the 2020/21 campaign and the Germany international admits he’s been ‘flattered’ by the recent speculation. "I’m definitely staying in Gladbach," Ginter told German publication Kicker when asked about the rumours. "Of course I heard of the enquiries and was flattered by this attention. But I’ve said often enough how good things are for me in Gladbach." Ginter added: "The current team has great potential and the coach has brought a huge added value for us. The club is in the process of building something with the great fans and the environment. I also have big goals with the club and of course I’m still tied into a contract." Ginter’s current contract is due to expire in 2021 but Gladbach have an option to extend his deal by 12 more months. Source: Metro
