Manchester United told to pay £40m for transfer target

Manchester United will reportedly have to pay £40million to sign Bournemouth star David Brooks this summer. The 23-year-old is being viewed by the Red Devils as a cheaper alternative to Borussia Dortmund forward Jadon Sancho. Brooks suffered an injury-hit 2019/20 season, appearing just nine times as Bournemouth were relegated from the Championship. The Sun claim Bournemouth value Brooks at a whopping £40m. The Wales international joined the Cherries for £11.5m from Sheffield United in 2018 and impressed in his debut season with seven goals and five assists. New Bournemouth boss Jason Tindall insists there will be no fire-sale at the club this summer. He said: “I think with any club that’s relegated from any division there’s always that speculation with players leaving or being linked with other clubs. It’s no different to what’s happened at this football club for probably the last three, four or five years. “A number of our players are always being linked with moves away, you deal with that as and when it comes around. The one thing is, the players know what a good football club it is, it’s a club that wants to get promoted and I think the club is in a healthy position right now. I wouldn’t be sitting here now if I didn’t have assurances. If the club had said fire-sale, losing eight or nine players, I wouldn’t be sitting here now.” Source: talksport
