Manchester United should not give a priority to Sancho’s transfer: There is a position that needs an improvement ASAP
Former England national team head coach Steve McClaren believes Manchester United should concentrate on signing a center forward and forget about Jadon Sancho. The Red Devils lost to Sevilla in Europa League semi-finals. Ole-Gunnar Solskjaer’s side had several moments to finish their rivals, but they failed to score another goal. Sevilla, meanwhile, scored two goals from three shots on target and knocked out the Premier League giants. Anthony Martial himself had 2-3 chances to score and McClaren identifies the Frenchman’s lack of scoring in crucial matches. “The front four are so quick, they’re so exciting and they cause so many problems, and Martial is a fantastic player, but in the big games when it really matters he never looks like a true goalscorer. They need class in that position," he told talkSPORT.Former Three Lions coach says Erling Haaland and Harry Kane are the players Solskjaer needs for the next season. “The manager is helpless if the club don’t back him and go for the likes of Haaland. What a perfect fit he would have been. I’ve seen him for Dortmund and he’s an incredible player at 20. Imagine him in the Man United team, that would be spot on. So they’re not far away, but they have to spend the money and get the right players.” he added. Why not Sancho? McClaren believes there are three players from the starting XI similar to the Borussia Dortmund star. If Martial, Rashford and Greenwood can give the capacity, why go for Sancho? "Haaland would have been perfect; a young talented striker, a No 9 who can play under pressure – they’re difficult to find. Harry Kane, will they get him out of Tottenham? I doubt it very much, but they need someone of that ilk.” Steve concludes.
