Manchester United to activate Alderweireld's release clause
Manchester United are still keen to sign Toby Alderweireld from Tottenham.
Belgium international has started 11 times this season, but he wanted to leave North London last summer because of the lack of trophies in Tottenham.
Last summer Mauricio Pochettino convinced Alderweireld to stay in the club, but this time even Argentine manager could be helpless.
Manchester United are ready to activate release clause of Belgian, £25.4 m.
The Sun writes: “Spurs have the right to trigger an automatic one-year extension on his current contract – but that would in turn activate a release clause of just £25.4million for the player.”
Jose Mourinho is a big admirer of 29-year-old Alderweireld. Portuguese coach considers him as a long-term solution for the defense.
