Manchester City V AFC Bournemouth: Preview and Possible XI

Premier League: Matchweek 14

  • Venue: Etihad
  • Date: Saturday, December 1
  • Kick-off time: 7PM

Bournemouth travel to Manchester as they face their toughest task of the season so far: Premier League leaders Manchester City.

Unbeaten leaders Manchester City are targeting a sixth straight Premier League victory, while AFC Bournemouth are seeking to stop a three-match losing run.

Kevin De Bruyne remains out with ligament damage he sustained in a Carabao Cup win over Fulham. Benjamin Mendy will also miss out with another long-term knee Injury, while Bernardo Silva is doubtful after he picked up a knock on international duty. Ilkay Gundogan and Gabriel Jesus will undergo fitness tests after missing the midweek Champions League game against Lyon.

Midfielder Dan Gosling is a doubt for Bournemouth’s trip to Manchester City. Gosling sustained a minor knee injury in the defeat against Arsenal and has not trained for the Cherries this week. Jefferson Lerma is unavailable through suspension, while Adam Smith (knee) is also an absentee.

Manchester City have won all six of their Premier League matches against AFC Bournemouth, scoring 21 goals and conceding only two.

If City avoids defeating it will be their third Premier League unbeaten run of 20 matches or more, something only Manchester United and Arsenal have done more often in the competition, seven times and four times respectively.

Raheem Sterling could become the first ever Premier League star to score in his first six appearances against an opponent, having netted in all five of his matches for City against AFC Bournemouth.

AFC Bournemouth are yet to lose a Premier League away match against the reigning champions, having won at Chelsea in both 2015/16 and 2017/18 and drawn at Leicester City in 2016/17.
