Manchester City are now reportedly in the market to sign Bayern Munich defender David Alaba and could hold all the aces to seal the deal.
The 28-year-old will be out of contract next summer and so is free to speak to foreign clubs in January. Rumours over a new contract have not borne fruit and it seems as though he will leave the Allianz Arena.
A number of possible suitors have been mentioned, with Real Madrid known to be keen. The Cityzens were mentioned as having an interest earlier this week but
Fussball Transfers have expanded on that.
Head coach Pep Guardiola is a big fan of the Austria international and there was the possibility of a deal last summer. The player’s agent, Pini Zahavi, suggested a deal to swap Alaba with City’s Leroy Sane.
That failed to materialise with Alaba reported to have felt ‘underappreciated’ with that scenario. However, now it is said that Guardiola will allow Alaba to play in midfield if he moves to Manchester.
Traditionally a left-back, the Vienna-born ace is known to favour a midfield berth and it could be a deal breaker.
