The Argentina international’s future is in major doubt at the moment. Many outlets linked him strongly with a reunion with Pep Guardiola at the Etihad Stadium. Messi's dispute with Barcelona could see him become available for as little as £88m if he is forced to leave for a transfer fee, according to the Telegraph. Barcelona insists Messi is still contracted by the club, and his £630m release clause is the only way a club could sign him. But Messi is hoping to either leave for free, or reach a compromise that would see a reasonable transfer fee paid. The report suggests that could be as low as £88m, quoting sources 'familiar' with Messi's stance.
