Liverpool are looking to finalize a deal for RB Leipzig defender Ibrahima Konate, according to The Athletic's David Ornstein. Konate, whose contract with the Bundesliga side expires in 2023, has made 15 appearances so far this season and has scored one goal.
The Reds have been struggling with injuries this season, particularly at the back with Van Dijk and Joe Gomez being sidelined with long-term injuries.
And according to Ornstein, Jurgen Klopp's side are working to finalise deal for Konate.
Ornstein wrote on Twitter: "Liverpool working to finalise deal for Ibrahima Konate from RB Leipzig. Not done but significant progress made + LFC pursuit of 21yo French centre-back now advanced. Likely his ~€40m release clause will need paying."
