Liverpool have “made contact” for Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele for the summer transfer window.

Reds are close to completing the deal for Bayern Munich star Thiago Alcantara, with the two sides reaching an agreement over £27million deal for the Spain international. However, newly-crowned champions are likely to go for a new winger as well, as the club boss Jurgen Klopp wants to add a competition to front three of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino.

Reds have been linked with Wolves winger Adama Traore and Watford ’s Ismaila Sar for the summer, but Dembele is reported to be the club’s current potential target. According to a report of Spanish news outlet Sport, Liverpool have officially made contact for the 23-year-old, with an intention to sign him on loan for a season.

Dembele joined Catalan giants for €105million back in August 2017. He made just five appearances for the club last term due to injuries and only made his comeback in Barcelona’s pre-season friendly earlier this week.
