Liam Sutcliffe linked with Castleford Tigers after requesting transfer from Leeds Rhinos

Super League winner Liam Sutcliffe has asked for a move away from Leeds Rhinos, but remains a member of their squad “for the time being”. Director of rugby Kevin Sinfield confirmed Sutcliffe has submitted a transfer request. He said: “This isn’t something that’s happened through Covid, I think Liam has fancied a change for a period of time. “We’ve tried to work through it, but he has decided it’s probably the best thing for him to try and have a new chance somewhere else.” Sutcliffe joined Rhinos’ academy from Hunslet Warriors and made his first team debut in 2013. The 25-year-old played in Rhinos’ 2014 Challenge Cup success and was a Grand Final winner three years later. His 171 appearances for Leeds include two this season, but his last game before the coronavirus shutdown was on dual-registration for Featherstone Rovers when he made his comeback from a knee injury. Castleford Tigers have been linked with Sutcliffe who is under contract at Rhinos until the end of 2021. One of the most versatile players in Super League, he has featured at full-back, centre, in the halves and second-row. Source- Yorkshire Evening Post
