Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips has admitted that they had to refocus after becoming “starstruck” by Liverpool stars at Anfield.
The Whites played the Merseyside club at Anfield back in September, when the Reds picked up a 4-3 win with Mohamed Salah's hat-trick and Virgil van Dijk's goal. From the Leeds Jack Harrison, Patrick Bamford and Mateusz Klich also marked their name on the scoresheet.
And speaking to
GQ, Phillips revealed how Leeds reacted in the opening moments of the clash with Liverpool.
“For the first ten minutes, we were starstruck by the players we were playing against,” the England international said.
“But after that, we knuckled down and tried to get a result.
“Players such as Mo Salah, Marcus Rashford – if you go and you have a good game, they recognise you.”
