Kevin de Bruyne opens up on Manchester City injury hell and hints on his future

Kevin de Bruyne's injury has restricted him to starting only nine of Manchester City's 32 Premier League games so far. He has opened up on his injury nightmare and admitted that he will only play a cameo role in the club's title race with Liverpool. “The season is what it is,” said de Bruyne. “I’ve been injured and had to come back three or four times now.I’m very happy to play again and hopefully I’ll be fine until the end of the season. “I don’t know what my level is going to be but, to be fair, I don’t really care. Now it’s the business end, I just need to do what I can do to help the team win games. If that means playing five games or 10 games, I’ll take it. It’s been that kind of season. “I feel sometimes my season had double the length of other players, because every time you need to be in, you need to make almost double the hours. You never have a day off, because you need to work on your recovery. It’s more draining than to play. A lot of the time you’re alone, but you have to do it.” De Bruyne missed the first two months of the season with torn knee ligaments, then suffered a similar injury which ruled him out for another six weeks. “Last year, I could do it every three days for almost 60 or 70 games,” continued the midfielder. “I can’t reach that tally anymore. It’s only if everything goes right, like 13 or 14 games. I’ll give everything I have and hopefully in the end we can lift a few titles. “I felt happy against Cardiff. I played 90 minutes. But I don’t expect to play every game. “It’s going to be important that everybody stays fresh, because with the schedule we have and the importance of the games coming up, we’ll need almost everybody. It’s like 12 or 13 cup games. It makes it exciting. In the end, maybe we’ll lose everything, but at least we’re here at this stage.”
