Jurgen Klopp REVEALS Sadio Mane’s reaction on being SUBBED against Atletico Madrid
Jurgen Klopp has revealed Sadio Mane was surprised for being subbed at the halftime against Atletico Madrid in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16.
Senegalese international was on the verge to get a red card in the first half. He had two clashes with Atletico defender Sime Vrsaljko and was lucky to get only one yellow card before being subbed by Klopp.
"I spoke to him this morning, I asked was he surprised and he said 'yes'. I don't think he had a chance, my honest opinion. We needed him physical, having contact with opponents.” Klopp said (via Mirror)
"It's part of the game, I don't like it too much, the situation they created with eight players around the referee.
"I didn't believe we could complete the game with XI with him on the pitch. But now he's completely fine, he's rested which is good as well." German added.
Atletico Madrid beat Liverpool due to Saul’s early goal.
Liverpool will host La Liga side on March 12 at Anfield Road.
