Press Conference: Jurgen Klopp on Shaqiri, Manchester United fan letter, West Ham and more

Jurgen Klopp met with the press on Friday ahead of Liverpool's upcoming clash with West Ham United. The Reds boss has talked about injured Xheridan Shaqiri, midfield options as Jordan Henderson will be out for three weeks, upcoming West Ham clash and more. When asked about Manchester United fan letter, Klopp responded: "It wasn't me feeling sympathetic - I had time, but I can't answer all letters I get in a day - I get a lot. But it was nice, it was cheeky. I had time that day so I read the letter and replied. "I like the rivalry we have with Manchester United but I would love even more to keep that on the pitch. He looked happy in a picture I saw afterwards. "I have no problems with supporters of other clubs. It is a free world and we choose our club. Not everyone has to be a Liverpool fan." Klopp has discussed his midfield options as team captain Jordan Henderson has been ruled out for three weeks. "Hopefully nothing helps happens (to our midfielders)," he said. "We still have options. There's a chance for all of them. But Hendo wouldn't have played every game between now and end of season." Liverpool head coach has also talked about their upcoming clash with West Ham.

"They didn't have Lanzini and Halle (v Man City) and with all the brilliance for City it was a set-piece the first goal and was a little bit scrappy in the build-up, but a super goal," Klopp said.

"But not a typical City goal. West Ham fought really hard.

"I could watch the game (against City). The first goal was a set piece and the second was a super situation with KDB. It was a super goal but they were not outplayed. They fought and defended with all they had so I'd expect them to defend against us like this.

"West Ham will have taken positives from that game and we have to be ready for that. But it's Monday night, we need a really good atmosphere. Not perception 1-0 after seven, 2-0 after 25, it will not be like this. West Ham have to fight for results. I expect tough match."

When asked about Shaqiri injury update, the Reds boss said:

"Not close to team training yet. We cannot put any time pressure on it. It’s not a big one but big enough. We have to wait." Liverpool will face West Ham United on Monday at Anfield. Source- Liverpool Echo
