Jose Mourinho given transfer assurances as Tottenham eye hotshot winger

Tottenham interest in FC Porto winger Luis Diaz, who scored 12 goals in his first campaign on European borders. Spurs endured an underwhelming campaign this season, but finished strongly to secure Europa League qualification. Jose Mourinho has been handed a transfer boost from up above nevertheless. He is cited by The Scottish Sun as saying: “Have I had assurances I will not need to sell key players this summer? Yes. “We don’t want to sell our important players and that immediately is a limitation because by not selling big players you also don’t have big incomings. So we are going to be very balanced but again the objective is to improve the squad. I’m totally convinced we’re going to manage.” One player who could, therefore, fit this summer’s transfer strategy is the Colombian, who has been a revelation in his first European campaign since joining from Colombian side Junior. Diaz could conceivably be classified as not a ‘big incoming’, and therefore suit the summer plan. The Scottish Sun states that Diaz has ‘caught the eye’ of Mourinho. While Portuguese outlet Record is cited as suggesting Spurs could be about to act on their interest. Source: teamtalk
