John Barnes suggests shock £35m England international for Liverpool, currently on loan

John Barnes believes that Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp need a midfielder in the shape of Chelsea outcast Danny Drinkwater to maintain their status as a title-challenging team. The Reds are just a couple of wins away from winning their first Premier League title in 30 years. Drinkwater won the Premier League with Leicester City in 2015-16. Barnes reckons the £35million (BBC) Chelsea signing would be a good addition – though surprising – for Liverpool. “You look at a player who can come and fit into our midfield where Man City would go, ‘no, he’s not for us because of his ‘technical’ ability’ but he can fit into what Liverpool want,” Barnes said. “If Jurgen Klopp stays, and he has this template, there are lots of players out there. I’m looking at Leicester when they had Danny Drinkwater, players who people might not think are great players, they could fit into what Liverpool want and still make Liverpool be one of the best team.” Source: tbrfootball
