Arsenal are reportedly getting closer to making the £50million signing of highly-rated Brighton & Hove Albion centre-back Ben White. The 23-year-old, currently on England duty at UEFA Euro 2020, will become the club's first signing of the summer transfer window, as Gunners manager Mikel Arteta looks to complete a successful summer overhaul after a forgettable 2020/21 campaign, which saw the club finish eighth in the Premier League table and miss out on a place in Europe for the first time in 25 years. And amid transfer talk, former Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool midfielder Jamie Redkanpp heaped praise on White after just his second Premier League appearance, which saw him help the Seagulls earn a clean sheet in a 3-0 away win over Newcastle United at St James' Park. "I have got to mention Ben White, there is a centre back there who is going to go right to the top," Redknapp told Sky Sports. "He is so comfortable on the ball, you can see why Leeds wanted to keep him. That young man is destined for an amazing future, he's comfortable on the ball, brilliant defensively and I love him."
