Liverpool were considering the signing of Real Madrid left-back Sergio Reguilon this summer but later focused on Kostas Tsimikas transfer, according to
Athletic's James Pearce.
The Reds have been linked with new defending options, following Dejan Lovren's departure from Anfield.
Reguilon, who currently plays on loan for Sevilla, was one of the transfer targets for the summer transfer window. He has attracted another Premier League side, Chelsea, as well, as Ben Chilwell alternative.
And Pearce claims Liverpool put off the asking price of Real Madrid defender to go for Tsimikas. The latter officially joined Jurgen Klopp's side on Monday.
