James, Kante, Lukaku: Chelsea latest injury updates ahead of Brentford clash

Chelsea are set to face Bretford on Saturday once Premier League action returns from international break. The Blues picked up a 3-1 win over Southampton right before the break and are currently leading the Premier League standings with 16 points. And ahead of the Saturday's clash with Brentford let's take a look at the injury concerns Thomas Tuchel might have. Romelu Lukaku was set to play in the Nations League third and fourth play-off against Italy, but has had to leave the Belgium squad due to a muscle fatigue. The Red Devils boss Roberto Martinez addressed the issue in his pre-match press conference, and stated that he is suffering from a similar issue to former Blues fan favourite, Eden Hazard. N'Golo Kante missed both Nation League winning clashes for France, as he previously tested positive for Covid-19. However, now the 30-year-old is back to Chelsea training and might be in contention to face Bretford. Christian Pulisic suffered an ankle injury during the last international break with USA, and is still recovering from injury. It is unknown yet when the 23-year-old is expected to play for the European Champions once again. Reece James also suffered an ankle injury in the game against Manchester City and missed international duty with England. But, thankfully, the Blues right-back was pictured in Cobham training with Kante on Tuesday, October 12- suggesting that both could play a key part in the upcoming Brentford. Thiago Silva, on the other hand, is not injured but his call up to the Brazil national team does mean he will likely miss the clash with Brentford. South American teams are having to play a higher number of games in the build-up to the 2022 World Cup, meaning the 36-year-old will not return until the morning of the west London derby.
