John Terry has suggested that it could take Virgil van Dijk some time to return to his best due to the long-term absence. However, he also added that he hopes the Reds defender can prove him wrong.
The Dutch international has been out of action since picking up a knee injury against Everton back in October 2020. He has missed a total of 45 games due to fitness issues.
“It’s a big injury. I think it’s going to take time and settle. I hope not. I hope I’m wrong on that but I think he’ll need bleeding into that team and managed throughout the team,” Terry told Stadium Astro (24:10).
Now Van Dijk is back to the first-team squad as he helped Jurgen Klopp’s side secure a 3 – 0 win over Norwich City in the Premier League first game of the season.
